Our veterinary surgeons are experienced in transfusion medicine should your pet ever need a blood transfusion. We have several certificate holders in internal medicine amongst our veterinary team, who are more than happy to arrange a blood transfusion if appropriate.
Being a large veterinary hospital means we have access to a selection of donors for cat transfusions, and with our 24hour service, we can complete these day or night. We also work very closely with Pet Blood Bank, which allows us to provide transfusions of whole blood, packed red blood cells or fresh frozen plasma if needed.
We regularly help Pet Blood Bank hold donor collection days at our practice, offering our facilities to allow collections to continue.
We are able to blood type cats and dogs in house, and we are also able to provide a cross-matching service for animals who have previously had a transfusion, which in turn makes the transfusion safer and lowers the risks of a reaction to the blood product.
