On-site Laboratory
We have heavily invested in our laboratories across our sites to ensure your pet has access to advanced diagnostic tests.
- Blood testing
As the most common first step in diagnostics, blood testing is performed very frequently at Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital. Our laboratories can provide rapid results for a vast number of disorders, allowing your pet to receive the best possible care.
As well as the usual standard blood analysis machines, we also have a blood gas machine to assess acid-base disorders, ionised calcium testing and endocrine machines to assess cortisol and thyroid parameters to aid both adrenal and thyroid disease diagnoses.
Our ELISA testing machines allow us to screen for infectious diseases such as FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), FeLV (feline leukaemia virus) and Angiostrongylus (dog lungworm).
We have access to worldwide leaders in external laboratories should your pet require a more specialised tests. Further more, we also offer an onsite rapid same day cytological service.
We are also able to offer genetic screening tests for specific diseases in certain breeds (for example Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in Ragdolls).
Our veterinary team also consists of post graduate certificate holders in internal medicine, should your pet require further investigation, so you can be confident your pet is in good hands at Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital.
- Urine testing
Testing your pets urine can give a vast amount of information, such as an indication on how well the kidneys are working, assessment of diabetes and investigation of urinary tract problems.
